2.6.1 – Program outcomes, program specific outcomes and course outcomes for all programs offered by the institution are stated and displayed in website of the institution (to provide the web link)

 

The Institution runs UG and PG programs. At UG level, there are four programs available:

 

1.     B.Com. with Accountancy

2.     B.A. with History

3.     B.A. with Gujarati

4.     B.A. with Economics

 

At PG level, two programs are offered:

 

1.   M.A. with History

2.   M.A. with Gujarati

 

By the end of the UG program, the students acquire the necessary information, knowledge and skills regarding the subjects of their studies. The students acquire employability and self-confidence to earn their livelihood. The syllabi as well as the teaching-learning process in the classroom make sure that students become a responsible citizen and not turn out to be a burden or nuisance to the society they live in.

 

1.     PROGRAM OUTCOMES FOR B.COM (ACCOUNTANCY)

 

·       After completion of the program, students become employable and acquire professional skills required in the corporate sector, banking and insurance sectors etc.

·       The students acquire conceptual knowledge of accountancy and skills of maintaining accounts.

·       The students acquire communications skills necessary in personal as well as professional life.

·       The students acquire a number of soft skills that can help succeed in personal and professional life. They learn leadership skills, decision making skill, critical thinking skill, problem solving skill, analytical reasoning skill, team work skill, digital and computer literacy and research related skill.

·       The students can get employment as manager, accountant, cost accountant, bank manager, auditor, company secretary, teacher, professor, stock agents, government employees, audit assistant, tax consultant, computer operator and so on.

·       The students can make research in the fields of finance and commerce.

·       The students also learn entrepreneurship skill.

     

     

      COURSE OUTCOMES

      The following subjects are taught at the Under Graduate Level of B.Com. program:

 

1)     Accountancy:

In the Commerce Faculty, Accountancy is offered as a major or Core Compulsory Course. The subject trains students in the modern methods of accountancy. The students are taught Financial Accountancy, Advanced Accountancy, and Corporate Accountancy during the span of three years.

 

The knowledge of this subject enables students to learn principles and concepts of accountancy.

 

The students learn practical applications of accounting.

 

The subject enables students to learn the basic concepts of partnership accounting and allied aspects of accounting.

 

The subject helps students learn the technical expertise in maintaining the books of accounting.

 

2)     Taxation:

Taxation is offered as an elective course in the B. COM program.

 

The subject helps students understand the meaning of person, assessee, previous year, total income etc.

 

The students learn to identify the residential status and incidence of tax and solve problems.

 

The students learn to compute taxable income from salary and compute taxable income from house property.

 

The students understand the meaning of business and profession and compute taxable income.

 

The students identify long term and short-term capital gain and calculate taxable capital gain.

 

The students understand income under the head of other sources and solve problems.

 

The students identify the deductions from Gross Total Income and understand returns, filling of return of income, due date, kinds of assessment and assessment procedure.

 

The students also learn to compute income tax liability of individuals.

 

3)     Auditing:

The subject imparts knowledge about auditing, audit programs, working papers and preliminaries before audit.

 

The students learn to analyze the implementing of internal check and internal control in concerns.

 

The students understand the various aspects of vouching.

 

The students also learn how to verify and value various assets and liabilities.

 

The students learn to evaluate the traits of Company Auditor and how to draft Auditor’s Report.

 

4)     Business administration:

Business Administration is offered in the Faculty of Commerce as a compulsory subject.

 

The students are taught how to manage things and events in business. They acquire skills from the planning to how to control or manage corporate things and events. The students learn how to fulfill the purpose by coordinating things. 

 

5)     Banking:

Banking is offered as an elective course in the B. COM program.

 

The subject imparts the practical knowledge of the banking system of our country. The students learn the importance of the banking procedure and its importance in the professional as well as personal life.

 

The subject help students understand the relationship between the banker and the customer, how to apply crossing and endorsement in the cheques.

 

The subject help students understand about commercial banks, EXIM banks and their functions.

 

The students learn to analyze the traditional banking, mode of charging security and evaluate the elements of modernized banking.

 

The students understand the functions of RBI and methods of credit control.

 

 

6)     Marketing

Marketing is offered as an elective course in the B. COM program.

 

The subject teaches students the entire procedure from the production to the sale of a product.

 

It also provides information regarding the marketing strategies of the service sector.

 

The students are also trained in self-marketing skill. They are informed of the global changes in this field.

 

The subject makes students understand the modern marketing concepts providing knowledge about marketing mix, segmentation, targeting and positioning.

 

The students get clear idea of product planning, diversification elimination and pricing strategies.

 

The students understand marketing of consumer goods, channels of distribution and international marketing.

 

7)     Business Economics:

Economics is offered as a compulsory subject at all the three years in the B. COM program.

 

The students understand the role of business economics in decision making.

 

The students learn to analyze the demand determinants and measuring price elasticity of demand.

 

The students learn to analyze the peculiarities of factors of production.

 

The students learn to evaluate the supply and cost analysis of Total, Average and Marginal curves.

 

The students learn to identify equilibrium, price and output decisions in various market forms.

 

8)     Statistics:

Statistics is offered as a compulsory subject at the first year B. COM program.

 

The subject explains the primary concepts of statistics, data collection, sampling and tabulation.

 

The subject helps students understand the concepts of measures of central tendency and solve problems.

            The students also learn the various measures of dispersion and solve related problems.

 

The subject develops the ability to solve problems in correlation and regression analysis.

 

The subject also helps students calculate the index numbers and understand the concept of time series and their application.

 

The subject teaches students how to prepare statistical data. It develops their analytical skill that can help them in future while making surveys or projects etc.

 

9)     Business Regulatory Framework (Also known as Mercantile Law):

This subject is taught at the final year of the B.COM program.

 

The students know the basic provisions regarding legal framework governing the business world.

 

The students learn basic concepts, terms and provisions of Mercantile and Business Laws.

 

The subject develops awareness among students regarding the laws that affect trade business and commerce.

 

10)  English:

English is taught as a Core Compulsory Course in all the three years in both Arts and Commerce faculties.

 

The subject offers proficiency in the global language. They learn business communication and other written and spoken communication skills.

 

The students are taught to use electronic media in business communication. They are also taught how to overcome the communication barriers.

 

The students learn various forms of job related and other business communications such as CV writing, interview, group discussion, report writing, business letter writing etc. The efficiency in business communication can be helpful in getting jobs in private sectors as well as government services. 

 

They are also introduced to some literary pieces such as short stories, essays, and poems along with some grammar topics.

 

 

11)  Gujarati:

Gujarati is offered as a core compulsory course in all the three years in both the faculties, Arts and Commerce.

 

The study of this subject offers proficiency in the language and certain professional skills.

 

Many written and spoken communication skills such as business letter writing, application writing, report writing, letters regarding banking and insurance etc. are covered in the syllabus. The proficiency in such things enhance the employability of the students.

 

They are also introduced to some literary pieces such as short stories, essays, and poems along with some grammar topics.

 

 

2.     PROGRAM OUTCOMES FOR B.A. & M.A. (HISTORY)

 

·       History is offered as a major subject at UG and PG levels. The subject is also offered as an elective course at the UG level.

 

·       History is a record of all the events that happened during the human life. It is the barometer of the development of mankind. The study of the subject makes the students aware of the history of our nation as well as that of the world.

 

·       It also offers a chance to learn from the mistakes made by our predecessors in past or to be inspired by the great historical figures and thereby improve our present.

 

·       This subject is very important for the competitive examinations. The students can get employed as a researcher or curator at historical museums or archives. They can also get employed as teachers after completing B.Ed. or as college teachers after completing necessary research works.

 

 

COURSE OUTCOMES

 

·       The study of the subject offers sound knowledge of different historical periods.

 

·       The history of different ages both national as well as world help students to understand a historical period better.

 

·       The subject also fosters a historical perspective of the students by developing proper knowledge of the historical events such as war, their causes and effects.

 

·       The students acquire knowledge of the historical events of the ancient, medieval, modern India and world.

 

·       The syllabus is devised in such a way that it represents different historical events from different angles. They not only make students familiar with the dominant events of different ages, but also open out new perspectives.

 

 

3.     PROGRAM OUTCOMES FOR B.A.& M.A. (GUJARATI)

 

·       Gujarati is offered as a major subject at UG and PG levels. The subject is also offered as an elective course at UG level.

 

·       Gujarati is the vernacular or the mother-tongue of most of the students of the College.  Therefore, proficiency in this language is expected from the students. 

 

·       The students can get employed as school teachers after completing B.Ed. or as college teachers after completing necessary research works.

 

COURSE OUTCOMES

 

·       Language is a great tool for communication and a powerful medium to learn any subject. The subject improves their writing and speaking skills. The improvement in the writing skill in this subject can be very helpful in the excellence of other subjects as well.

 

·       As a major course, the subject offers the knowledge of Gujarati literature of various eras. The history of Gujarati literature makes students aware of the rich heritage of the literature in this language.

 

·       The students are made aware of the literary figures of various ages and literary theories that prevailed throughout the history of Gujarati literature.

 

·       The study of the translated texts makes students aware of literature of the world and also of the great literary figures of the world.

 

 

4.     PROGRAM OUTCOMES FOR B.A. (ECONOMICS)

 

·       Economics is offered as a Core Course and Elective Course at Undergraduate Level.

 

·       Economics is the study of how societies, governments, businesses, households and individuals manage their resources.

 

·       The students learn the global economic trends, effects of inflation and recession on corporate and individual life.

 

·       The students can get employed as school teachers after completing M.A. and B.Ed. or as college teachers after completing M.A. and necessary research work in this subject.

 

            COURSE OUTCOMES:

           

·       The study of this subject helps to develop conceptual models of behavior to predict responses to changes in policy and market conditions.

 

·       The syllabus deals with the government policies on economic issues.

 

·       The students also learn the role and functions of the Reserve Bank of India in the formulation of the Indian economy.

 

·       The syllabus also makes students aware of the analysis of economic conditions for investment banks, brokerage houses, real estate companies, and other private sector businesses.

 

·       The study of economics can also provide valuable knowledge for making decisions in everyday life and the likely impacts of public policies including universal education and higher minimum wage.

 

 

Apart from these four Programs, the institute offers the following subjects as elective course only:

1.     Hindi

2.     Sanskrit

3.     Psychology

 

1.     COURSE OUTCOMES FOR HINDI

Hindi is offered as an Elective Course at BA level.

           

·       Hindi is important as a common medium of communication across the nation. The knowledge of Hindi is very helpful in inter-state migration and can promote mobility across the nation.

 

·       The students become aware of the rich heritage of literature written in Hindi. They get familiar with the prominent literary figures and literary theories in Hindi literature.

 

·       Hindi is offered as a Core Elective Course only, therefore, students can choose it as the second method of teaching in their B.Ed. Course, first being their special or Core Course.

 

 

2.     COURSE OUTCOMES FOR SANSKRIT

·       Sanskrit is offered as an Elective Course at BA Level.

 

·       Sanskrit is considered the Dev-Bhasha or the Classical Language of our country. It is also seen as the mother of most of the Indian languages.

 

·       The study of this subject makes students aware of they mythological and cultural heritage of the country.

 

·       The syllabus introduces students with the history of Sanskrit literature and literature written in Sanskrit.

 

·       Sanskrit is offered as a Core Elective Course only, therefore, students can choose it as the second method of teaching in their B.Ed. Course, first being their special or Core Course.

 

 

 

3.     COURSE OUTCOMES FOR PSYCHOLOGY

·       Psychology is offered as an Elective Course at BA Level.

 

·       Psychology is offered as subsidiary or Core Elective subject in the Faculty of Arts. The study of the subject helps students understand his/her own behavior as well as that of others. The students learn how to successfully interact with others.  

 

·       The subject also makes students proficient in certain soft skills such as problem solving, adaptability, stress-management etc. and with that, the students can learn how to develop healthy human relationships with other in personal as well as professional life.

 

·       The efficiency in the subject can get them jobs as mentor or practice as counselor or psychiatrist.

 

·       Psychology is offered as a Core Elective Course only, therefore, students can choose it as the second method of teaching in their B.Ed. Course, first being their special or Core Course.

 

Besides the above-mentioned Core Courses and Elective Course, the students are taught the following interdisciplinary subjects also:

1.     Environmental Studies

2.     History of Major Revolutions

3.     History of Indian Culture

 

1.     COURSE OUTCOMES OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIESE:

 

·       Environmental Studies is a compulsory inter-disciplinary subject for the first year B.A. and B.Com students.

 

·       It makes students aware of the present burning environmental issues and the remedial steps for the same.

 

·       The students learn the definition, scope and importance of natural resources and associated problems.

 

·       The students learn the concept of ecosystem and different types of ecosystems.

 

·       They also understand biodiversity and its conservation.

 

·       They understand the causes, effects and control measures of environment pollution.

 

·       They also learn the social issues and the various laws to protect environment.

 

·       The subject tries to turn students into responsible and wakeful citizen.

 

 

2.     COURSE OUTCOMES OF HISTORY OF MAJOR REVOLUTIONS:

 

·       History of Major Revolutions is offered as an inter-disciplinary subject at the second year B.A.

 

·       As its name suggests, it gives information regarding the major historical revolutions; why they took place, what were their impacts etc.

 

 

 

3.     COURSE OUTCOMES OF HISTORY OF INDIAN CULTRE:

 

·       History of Indian Culture is offered as an inter-disciplinary subject at the second year B.A.

 

·       It makes students aware of the rich cultural heritage of our country. The students know how the Indian culture has changed so far.
